Young Professionals of Color (YPOC)

The YPOC was founded in 2016 to address the unique and specific needs facing professionals of color in Central Pennsylvania. Every decade more young professionals of color move out of than move to the Greater Harrisburg area. We empower professionals of color to identify the resources they need to thrive in the community, we create safe social spaces for professionals of color to relax, and stimulate growth and development for every member and the surrounding communities.

“I see our ‘Adopt a Classroom’ growing and developing and really helping support the school system in ways that are needed. So as we increase the support of our education system, we want to make sure that we’re uplifting everyone in the community.”

— Basir Vincent, Co-President, YPOC

The Foundry Makerspace

As technology and business concepts become more innovative, the need for students to develop skills that will help them thrive in these markets is paramount. The Foundry builds the capacity of schools for 21st Century life and work. In addition to placing Maker Fellows in schools to assist teachers, coaches and students as they engage in K-12 interest-based interdisciplinary S.T.E.A.M. projects the Foundry partners with the Graduate School of Education at Messiah University to offer PDE credited certificates for educators in STEM education.
